da apostaganha: Andy Carroll is a player to be envied at Newcastle United, as a traditional centre forward he has been asserting his presence against seasoned defenders; this presence has led to goals, exposure and a deserved England call-up. In his twelve games played he has scored an impressive seven goals resulting in his name alongside Florent Malouda, Carlos Tevez and fellow teammate Kevin Nolan, all having scored seven in the Premier League and finding themselves joint top goal scorers. This type of form will invariably lead to speculation over the player’s future, with clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea being linked with him.
da bwin: This type of affection, whilst flattering, should remain as harmless as such, and if approaches or enquiries are made about the possibility of selling Carroll, they must be refuted with conviction. Carroll has become something of a nostalgic object, in that he elicits memories of centre forwards who weren’t afraid to put their body on the line for the cause of the team and would stand tall at the head of any attack. This will always enchant the audience who watch him, as he refuses to relent, consistently harassing and hounding, until he gets his just rewards for such endeavors.
Contrast this with a player such as Peter Crouch and the disparity is evident, although they offer different attributes and have different approaches to the game, the majority of fans would rather possess a Carroll than a Crouch. The latter can frustrate, dwell, become indecisive, and struggle to make use of his height, whilst the former is powerful, direct and effective. The rumours regarding Spurs’ interest in Carroll coincide with the rumours of Crouch’s possible exit, this may be the media filling like with like and there being no evidence of plausibility, but it is suggestive.

Newcastle in their efforts have relied upon Carroll not solely, but indeed, enormously. To entertain offers for the local lad who has assumed the number 9 shirt as easily as the proverbial duck takes to water, would be greeted with disappointment from the fans. I’m not sure as to the value of Carroll, for he possesses certain criteria as being English, youthful and having potential, which usually increases a players worth by a considerable amount.
This all weighed up would believe me to surmise that Carroll would command a hefty sum of money in order to pry him away from the adoring faithful at St. James’ Park. I would further assent to the idea that Chris Hughton realises the importance of holding onto a player of Carroll’s calibre and the board would, hopefully, consent to this decision.
Carroll needs to be assured that remaining at Newcastle will be beneficial to his progress as a player, with possible suitors issued a categorical no, if they do make themselves known rather than just the hearsay we’re left to feed on which remains immaterial. With a groin injury that will deny Newcastle the ability to select Carroll in the immediate future, it will become apparent how much they rely upon his presence.
