Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has admitted that he is frustrated with his team’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn on Monday, and feels that the home side deserved three points.
A Charlie Adam own goal on the stroke of half time was cancelled out by a Maxi Rodriguez strike, and despite the fact that the Anfield team had numerous chances to get a second goal, the spoils were shared.
The Scottish coach feels it is not the first time this season that his side have played well enough to win, but have not received the points to reward their efforts.
“It is the same story for us. It gets repetitive hearing it; it gets repetitive saying it for us,” he told Sky Sports.
“There is not a great deal more the players can do other than have a bit of belief in themselves when they get in there.
“We did have something to show for it, we got a point, which is not what we deserved and is not what our intent was, either. But they (Blackburn) came to go away with something and they got it. They fought hard for the cause.
“We have got to look after what we can do for ourselves,” he stated.
Talisman Steven Gerrard made a comeback from injury in the fixture, replacing Charlie Adam with 20 minutes remaining, and Dalglish is glad to have his attacking midfielder available again.
“He needs to get some time on the pitch.
“From his first free-kick, we went close with a header. It is smashing to have him back,” Dalglish concluded.
Liverpool now take on Newcastle at Anfield on Friday, with only a point separating the sides in sixth and seventh places.
