The Red Dragons dropped to fourth in the table courtesy of Tim Dieng's goal in the 55th minute at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jacob Mendy, Steven Fletcher, and Elliot Lee went closest for the visitors but the hosts held on for all three points to climb to seventh. Phil Parkinson's men, who were leapfrogged by Crewe Alexandra into third, had 58 per cent possession but just three of their 15 shots were on target as their mini-revival ended.

Gills goalkeeper Glenn Morris rolled back the years with an impressive performance in between the sticks to keep Wrexham at bay. The 40-year-old made some great stops to keep out efforts from Fletcher in particular to preserve his side's clean sheet.

Wrexham seemed to lack much of a game plan and an identity, especially when they went 1-0 down. Manager Phil Parkinson's second half substitutes didn't have much impact and it could be argued he didn't get his tactics right.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Wrexham, who are just one point outside the top three, are back in action on Tuesday away to lowly Forest Green Rovers, before hosting mid-table Accrington Stanley on March 2 in two winnable games.
