This past October, the Italian Tax Office valued the stadium and surrounding area at approximately €200 million. According to, Milan and Inter aim to start building the new stadium in 2027, with completion targeted for 2030. The new venue will have a capacity of around 71,500 seats, including 13,000 for corporate and hospitality areas, and will require an investment of over €1 billion euros. It will be constructed in the area currently used as parking lots behind the Stadio Meazza’s west stand.
WHAT MILAN MAYOR SAID
“I hope the clubs will submit the offer and the economic plan today,” Sala told RTL 102.5 via Gazzetta on Tuesday.
“The law states that once we receive the offer, we must still issue a public tender, but it is clear that the premise will be an area dedicated to football. The law also allows for the possibility of a private negotiation. If the offer arrives today, we will examine it and report to the City Council. The tender will last about 30-45 days, and the goal is to sell the stadium and the surrounding areas to the teams before the summer holidays.
"Then the clubs will start building a new stadium next to the Meazza. It will take a few years, and once it is ready, they will redevelop the old stadium, which, in my opinion, is set to remain as we know it until 2030.”

The existing stadium will only begin to be partially dismantled once the new one is completed. Due to its cultural significance, the Stadio Meazza cannot be demolished, which led to the abandonment of the original 2021 proposal for a new stadium called 'The Cathedral'.
