da brwin: Tottenham have seemingly failed in their efforts to sign Hugo Lloris from Lyon, as the French club claim that the north Londoners have not met their valuation of the goalkeeper.
Andre Villas-Boas is eager to sign a new stopper before the transfer window closes as a long-term alternative to the ageing Brad Friedel and Daniel Levy has been locked in negotiations over the France captain this summer.
Initially a move looked likely to happed as the Ligue side’s president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed that negotiations were looking positive, but a statement from the Stade de Gerland side states the contrary.
“Olympique Lyonnais have not reached an agreement with Tottenham for the transfer of Hugo Lloris,” the statement reads.
“Proposals submitted by Tottenham tonight [Thursday] are significantly distant from the one which was officially offered on August 26 and had opened up discussions between the player and the London club.”
Meanwhile, Villas-Boas’ attempts to sign playmaker Joao Moutinho also look doomed as Porto are asking for £30 million for the creative midfielder according to The Daily Mail.
The Portuguese coach has identified his countryman as a replacement for Luka Modric.
